And then there were 8...

As NUWRFC advance into the quarter finals of the BUCS trophy their talent shows no signs of weakness.

On a cold windy Monday evening NUWRFC traveled to Teesside to face their rivals. Teesside had previously rocked NUWRFC's boat by putting them under pressure in the first round of the cup where Newcastle scraped a 10-5 victory; but this time, Teesside's bad mouths and cheating hands were no match for the undefeated NUWRFC. The final score being 31-10 to the mighty nubiles.

This Monday night fixture was a mere warm up for the girls' quarter final this Wednesday. Having beaten off Teesside and gained a walk over from Aberdeen, Newcastle welcome Dundee to Cochrane Park.

Throughout the season Newcastle have worked hard to achieve their success - whether at training on a Monday, fitness Friday mornings or spontaneous weekend sessions on Jesmond playing fields. And boy has it paid off! Not one member of the team looked tired at the 80minute whistle on Monday night.

Tomorrow, the backs will be looking to dominate again with slick hands and quick footwork. Switching and weaving through lazy forwards is our forte but one should not underestimate the agility of NUWRFC's forwards. Like no other team we've meet so far NUWRFC's forwards frequently out run the opposition. And that, in essence, is the beauty of the Newcastle Women's Rugby Team.

Let's just hope the girls turn up with their heads in the game and fire in their hearts, because we are the mighty royals and we deserve to be in the final at Twickenham.

Put the 28th March in your diaries girls, we're going all the way.
