NEW Cross kept a tight grip on the Devon Junior Vase by beating Devonport High School Old Boys 55-0 in this season's final.
The Kingsteignton-based outfit had to grind out victory over Plymstock last season to win the first piece of silverware in the club's short history.
Having won the Vase there was no way New Cross were going to give it up easily – as the Plymouth-based old boys' side soon discovered.
"It wasn't the landslide win it looked as DHS put a lot of effort in," said former New Cross captain Tim Prowse, who was on the sideline.
"But it wasn't too taxing for New Cross either."
New Cross got their noses in front before the interval with two tries from Nick Halse and a score from Toran Stone. Ryan Wotton kicked two conversions.
The home side stretched their advantage with tries from Ali Welby (2), Jared Harris, Luke Williams and Dan Heywood to wrap up victory.
