WOMEN’S SOFTBALL CRICKET TEAM PLAYS FIRST GAME INDOORS

10 of our new women cricket converts took to the boards at Wycliffe College last weekend to play the first indoor 6 a-side winter softball Festival. An original line-up of 6 teams was reduced to 5 with the withdrawal of one, so our ladies stepped in and formed four-sixths of a second team giving everyone the maximum chance to play.

The atmosphere was fantastic and this initiative has done wonders for women’s cricket at Newent CC. It is a really exciting development and one that has been well received by our mums and daughters, giving them, as it does, the opportunity to play in a team together. With a playlist of music chosen mainly by Families Wallace and Henson who also led the dance moves, the afternoon rocked!

This was a taste of play in the new winter league that kicks off at the Bentham Centre after Christmas. Bring it on!
