Code of Conduct for Players

Players are expected to play the game of rugby in accordance with the spirit of good sportsmanship and fair play.

You should take part "for the fun of it", not just to please your parents or your Coach.

Play by the Laws of the game. If you are unsure of the Law then ask your Coach.

Respect the referee's integrity and judgement on the field by accepting referee decisions.

The referee is there to manage the game for you by ensuring the game is played safely, equitably and within the bounds of the laws of the game.

Referees are always happy to talk to players but are there to make decisions, not to discuss them until after the game.

Keep your discipline by not losing your temper, respect your captain's authority and you and your team will benefit.

Keep trying your best, even if it seems hopeless. Be a good sport. It's cool to recognise all good play, whether by your team or by your opponent's team.

Players should not do anything that would bring discredit on the Club or the game such as:

• Insulting opponents;
• Making offensive remarks to match officials or club volunteers
• Deliberately feigning injury;
• Taking property belonging to opponents or their club;
• Making racial or racist remarks
• Behaving in any manner likely to cause offence, even when travelling to and from fixtures.

Players should report to an appropriate adult or to the Club's Safeguarding Officer any inappropriate behaviour, including any form of physical, sexual, emotion harm or neglect.

The Club may hold an inquiry into any alleged breach of this code and may suspend or expel from membership any offender as a result.
