Newton Wonder

After winning against Buckland Monachrome in mid-June, Newton have faced some tough opposition and unfortunately have been unable to take any wins from the month’s matches, although some valuable points have been gained from the matches with some good performances in the field. And if this had been matched with similar performances with the bat it would have put us in a stronger position.
Matches have included playing Yelverton, Topsham and Stokeinteignhead, with the latest match being against Exwick. Positives can be taken from the last match which when chasing a strong total of 257 we managed to put 191 for 8 on the board, giving much needed batting confidence as we look to the next few matches.
The league position still looks reasonable with us well ahead of South Brent and Buckland and hot on the heels of the next group of teams. However with some even tougher matches ahead in the next few weeks we need to be on top form.
The Revels saw a good turnout of youngsters for the cricket drills and our thanks go to the rest of the people involved in organising the event with a great day of family fun had by all, which the cricket team really enjoyed being part of.
As always, we are always looking for new players so if you are interested in having a game or coming to a practice please get in contact. (paulmccutchion@hotmail.com).
