Newton Stewart recorded a terrific 5-0 win against Upper Annandale away from home in the South of Scotland Football League.
The game started with Newton getting a lot of joy from pressing high and this led to the first goal. A terrific slip pass from Rory Drysdale sent Matthew Deazley in on goal, he squared it to Robert Middleton who made no mistake to send the Creesiders 1-0 up. Newton continued to create chances however Deazley, Middleton and Murray were narrowly denied a 2nd goal. Uppers ended the half slightly better and were denied an equaliser from an absolutely incredible save from Euan Drysdale to deny Dan Harvey from a 35 yard strike.

The 2nd half started very cagey with neither team failing to get a grip of the game. Some neat play from Aaron Drysdale at the edge of the box saw the youngster fouled, up stepped Robbie Murray who drilled the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-0. Five minutes later, Newton made it 3-0. A loose ball in the box was collected by Aaron Drysdale, who moved swiftly by 3 players in the box and found the bottom corner with a composed finish. Newton Stewart continued to be ruthless in the 2nd half and they soon made it 4-0 after 70 minutes. A corner whipped in by Robbie Murray found his boyfriend Robbie Adair at the back post who volleyed the ball into the bottom corner. Two minutes later it was 5-0, Marc Whyte collected a loose ball, slipped in Matt Deazley who found the bottom corner.
Newton Stewart survived a late scare when they were awarded a free kick late on, but they were denied a consolation goal with a comfortable saved from Euan Drysdale.
