The Millers are finally back at home this Saturday after over a month away as we welcome Kempston Rovers to Eynsham Park for game week 24 of the Southern Football League.
Having met for the first time last season, the visitors are yet to beat North Leigh in all three previous encounters but neither side has kept a clean sheet either so it is sure to be a goal filled fixture.
Form
North Leigh: L L W L W
Back to back league losses have certainly changed the mood a little in the camp but a string of home fixtures now against bottom half of the table teams surely presents an opportunity to get things back on track. Although the Millers have only won 2 of our last 6 league games, we are unbeaten at home since 8th October winning 4 of the 5 fixtures since. New signings Adam North and Lewis Gabbidon have loved promising so far and the return of defender captain Ben Brown will surely re-light the Millers fire.
Kempston Rovers: D L L L L
Kempston’s season has certainly been a struggle compared to last year. Picking up only 4 points from their last nine games has sunk the Walnut Boys to 2nd bottom and almost certainly in relegation danger if not for the misfortunes of Wantage Town. But nothing in football is ever certain especially when you consider the struggling side have shockingly beaten both AFC Dunstable and Berkhamsted this season. Furthermore a 1-1 draw at home to Kidlington last time out ended their run of five straight defeats.
Last Time We Met
Saturday 5th October 2019
Kempston Rovers 2 - 4 North Leigh
It was an incredibly action packed day at Kempston’s Hillgrounds Leisure earlier in the season in the reverse fixture. Six goals, two braces and a penalty saved from Eddie Cavanagh.
Speedster Josh Dutton-Black scored inside 6 minutes to get the travelling fans bouncing but a brace from ex-football league professional Izale McLeod saw the hosts take the lead before the break.
But a brilliant 2nd half comeback secured all three points for the Millers with goals coming from Morgan Williams, Josh Dutton-Black and an injury-time winner from Callum McNish.

Did You Know?
The earliest evidence of Kempston Rovers dates back to 1887 when the Kempston Rovers rugby club played their first ever football match. Four years later at the rugby club’s AGM, the decision was made to create a football team called Kempston Montrose. The club later folded with the assets transferred to Kempston Association and then in 1895, a new team was formed named Kempston Rovers and have been competing ever since. The Rovers soon gained the nickname “the Walnut boys” due to Kempston being well known for its walnuts.
