After two weeks away we have a hotly anticipated visit from Aylesbury United in game week 25 of the BetVictor Southern League.
The tie will be the 6th time the two sides have faced (3 in the league, 2 in the FA Cup) and the Ducks are yet to win one of them. A struggling Millers did the double over Aylesbury last season, won 3-2 at Chesham United’s ground in November last year and won an FA Cup replay at Eynsham Park in 2011.
Form
North Leigh: W L L W L
Back-to-back league postponements have caused both short and long-term planning issues for the Millers who now have 15 fixtures remaining in a nine week window. Last time out saw the club beat Kempston Rovers 2-1 at home, putting behind them two previous crushing away losses. Now sitting 11th with two games in hand, a result from Saturday's game with throw us straight back into the top half of the table and within touching distance of the playoffs. A hamstring injury to midfielder Callum McNish is a major blow to the team but manager Craig Dore is feeling confident with Ben Brown’s full return to fitness, the new signing of Oxford United’s Viktor Milton and the availability of UKAF midfielder Mike Atkinson.
Aylesbury United: D W W W L
After a fantastic start to the season, Aylesbury United looked to have fallen off the cliff over Christmas dropping from 3rd to 9th. Evidently the Ducks have now rediscovered their spark losing just a single fixture in their last eight. Last time out, local rivals Kidlington ended their three game winning streak with a 1-1 draw at Yarnton Road. Prior to that, wins against Biggleswade, Coleshill Town and Bedford Town have moved the club into 5th place with their eyes firmly fixed on securing a playoff spot at the end of the year following last season’s disappointing 15th place finish.
Last Time We Met
Saturday 2nd November 2019
Aylesbury United 2 - 3 North Leigh
It was a great trip to Chesham United’s Meadow ground earlier in the season where North Leigh ripped up the form book and brought all three points back to West Oxfordshire.
Tyriq Hunte opened the scoring against his former club after 29 minutes before second half goals from Harry Grant and Andy Gunn saw the Millers open up a 3-1 lead.
A 90th minute goal from Aylesbury’s Harry Jones made for a nail biting injury time but the defense held firm to keep our unbeaten streak against the Ducks intact.

Did You Know?
In 1994, Aylesbury did the unthinkable and reached the 3rd Round Proper of the FA Cup as a step 6 Isthmian Premier side. Beating fellow non-league competitors Newport IOW and Kingstonian in the 1st and 2nd rounds, a slightly favourable cup draw saw history in the making when they had a home draw against FA Premier League team Queens Park Rangers. The tie, having to be played at QPR, saw the Ducks valiantly fight to a 4-0 loss to a team competing 5 tiers above them.
