This weekend the 1xv take on second top Redcar at home. Up until last week our guests were unbeaten this season but this came to an end at the hands of Gateshead albeit against a weakened Redcar. This week Redcar come to Shields with players back (what a sickener) and looking to get back on track whilst Shields are looking to crack on after a good home win v DMPE last week.
Old timer Chris Spedding is dragged back into the ones screaming at loosehead with Dan Lewis moving reluctantly into the centres from his favoured winger position.
Alex Bolger makes his 1xv debut bringing some youth into the pack and Jay Moore moves into the second row bringing some bulk to the table.
Last season Shields came out on top scoring over 50 points but at same time conceding over 40 in an entertaining game. Alas this time we can’t rely on the mercurial pace of Dale Jones who single handedly destroyed Redcar for the 10 mins he was on the pitch.
Redcar arguably start as favourites so pressure off Shields, we can just go out and play.

Houghton v Crusaders
Our 2xv head to Houghton with both sides doing well to get together teams.
Last week out 2xv won 40-38 away to South Shields in a cracking game. Unfortunately MOM Josh Scott the bustling 12 is not available after a family emergency. Hope all goes well Josh.
Veteran Peter Joyner links up with Moyes and Cozens in the front row and James Earle returns to the flanks to cause some mischief along with the silent assassin Rob Ord at 6.
Half backs Cowley and Evan’s call the shots in the backs along with “The General” Andy Miller at 15.
The salivating thought of a feast of attacking end to end rugby awaits….
