- as part of our Focus On Series.

This series will provide a look into and an update on specific sections, partners and individuals of our club. This week, we focus on our M&J section - and the pride of our club as we approach the run in of the 2023/2024 season.

The Mini’s Section is a vibrant, loud, fun and active place to be. The objective in the Minis is simple – To ensure all players ENJOY their rugby! We don’t split abilities on purpose, this allows the more experienced to share their enthusiasm and knowledge in each age group, and all the players get equal game time during match fixtures. NO trials ALL welcome to “Give Rugby a TRY”.

We start at the under 5’s pre-school Superstars but that's for a future In Focus. Mini’s start at age 7’s, years 1 & 2 at school, all the way up to the Under 12’s (school year 7), girls are just as welcome as boys. Once girls reach year 7 at school they are split into their relevant gender squads.

The Minis Section has continued to grow this year - from U7 to U11, we have over 150 players registered, supported by coaches and team managers! We are so grateful to our volunteer coaches because without them, the minis section wouldn't be as strong as it is and the growth is testament to their amazing work. As with all sections, we have our own challenges. Currently, given our increased numbers, more coaching resource is required.
We are really proud of the Minis and we believe it is the best in the town. This season was no different and once again, we attracted new teams and players to the club. It is a truly amazing showcase of the brilliant mini rugby we have in the region.

We are always looking to welcome girls into the Minis Section, where they will play together in mixed teams until U12. Our girls section is growing and we would love to provide them with more players who have graduated from our Minis Section moving forward.

We try to organise events to bring our teams / parents together. We have an annual Christmas party at the club and we have enjoyed team and family excursions this season too. Then, to wrap things up, we will have our end of season presentation - handing out of medals, awards and generally a fun Sunday morning! Then, with an eye on next season, our Family Fun Day will be opportunity to enjoy an ice cream van / BBQ / bouncy castle etc.
We must personally thank our section sponsors, without whom we simply wouldn't exist. It is amazing that they are so passionate about the future of rugby in Northwich and we are sincerely grateful.

If anyone wants to join, they can find out more - training and home matches normally start at 10am on Sunday morning. You can see more about the Minis Section, Superstars Facebook page HERE
