With the end of season fast approaching what better time to let you know what 'New Blood' will be gracing the green and pleasant land of Moss Farm in the coming weeks.
We can now reveal the first two new faces to grace Northwich Rugby Club as they continue their debut season in the North Premier division and begin early preparations for 2022/23.
The club is delighted to announce the signings of Jordan Clarke a 21 year old Prop forward. Jordan’s achievements include being selected for the South African Rugby Schools U18 team, and being part of the South African Lions Squad at U19s.
Rory Leijdekker at 22 has recently relocated to Northwich with work and was instantly attracted to the team of the town. He can play in either Hooker or Prop position, and has played for the Leopards at U19 level in the Currie Cup.
Both players can play anywhere across the front three and we’re hoping their youth and experience can help develop our home grown talent like Tom Wilson.
We are delighted to have introduced new players to the club, and believe they will fit in really well with the squads. Both are hungry youngsters who want to progress in the game. They bring a balance to our scrum which now has a good blend between youth and experience, both players are quick, with great technique and can be deadly off set pieces.
Jordan and Rory said “they were looking forward to the challenge ahead and to meeting all the lads. Adding they couldn't wait to get going and to working with the coaching team”.
Northwich Director of Rugby Yan Cartman said “We will see many new names in the coming months as 5 new players have offered commitment to play at Northwich next season”.
“What I am particularly glad to see is the youthfulness of the current squads (with one or two notable exceptions). Along with some old 'Old favourites' returning from sabbatical or long term injury. This mixed in with the progress some of our young home bred talent has made this season, here's hoping we can all watch these lads develop into the next great Northwich side”.
Yan has no intentions of changing the set-up of the club, so we will continue to be one big community. In what continues to be a very difficult season for the Blacks. The quality has been very good and the players attitude has been spot on. The hardest thing going forward will be trying to keep everybody happy if they are not in the 1st xv but we’re trying to create a coaching environment where by we are developing these players and getting them to buy in to a culture.
All the coaches are pulling in the same direction and all have been extremely positive and are bringing in new and fresh ideas. At the moment we have a very happy camp! Long may that continue.
We wish them all a successful time with us.
In summary Yan said, "it’s good to get fresh faces in to boost our squad and until we are where we need to be we will not stop trying to improve each and every player."
