Director of Rugby Martin Poste has taken the decision to create a Development XV within the club with a view to retaining young players and preparing those players for inclusion in the future of Northwich Rugby Club.
And he has appointed former Senior Colts Captain Harry Naylor to spearhead the innovative idea.
Harry, the third generation of the Naylor clan to represent Northwich, was delighted to be invited by Postie to undertake the role, something he is relishing.
Said Harry “When Postie approached me and asked if I could lead a Development XV, and told me how he it wanted to work, I had no hesitation in accepting the offer.
“I feel proud and privileged to be part of this club and to be asked to oversee the development of players from my era is a great honour.”
Harry added “There are quite a few lads from the Colts team I captained already playing regular at Northwich, but there are a few really good players who have stopped playing altogether, and part of my role is try and get those lads to return to rugby.”
“Postie wants me to take charge of a squad of young players, get them to compete, progress and developed to a level where players can be promoted to the 1st XV.”
“I am determined to make a success of it and my priority for this season is to produce a team that can dominate the league.”
Postie was delighted that 21 year scrum half Harry agreed to his invitation. He said “I have been looking at a Development side for a while and now seems the right time to launch it.”
“To have a promising player like Harry, a former Colts Captain, to lead the venture excites me and I have n o hesitation that he is the right man to take it forward.”
