Northwich RUFC, Helsby RUFC & Northwest Mercenaries Rugby Clubs UNITE.

With no senior rugby fixtures arranged for the World Cup Final weekend 3 local clubs arranged a Charity fixture to raise much needed funds for Scotties Little Soldiers.

A military based charity dedicated to supporting the children of men and women killed whilst serving in the British Armed Forces. Army Widow Nikki Scott set up the charity in August 2010 to help the children our fallen heroes leave behind after her own husband Corporal Lee Scott was sadly killed in Afghanistan in July 2009

Helsby playing on their home ground, came out of the contest as victors against a newly formed Northwest Mercenaries RFU and Northwich RUFC combined team.

As Kirk Naylor from Northwich RUFC said " the games result was secondary, Scotties Little Soldiers were the winners on this occassion, although it was a great day for forging new rugby friendships and rugby club links for future events.".

It was a successful event not only in it's fundraising efforts, but the sport of rugby is guided by the core values of integrity, passion, solidarity, disciple and respect. These core values are unique to playing rugby and are shared by all who play the game. They are the foundation of the sport's long term success and combined with the similar ethics of the Military it was a great example of Northwichs continuation of its "Rugby in the Community" programme.
