Game Previews 29/10/22

Postie- We’re still developing as a team – we want to be an 80-minute side and to build pressure on for the whole game, but that’s easier said than done.
The quality of Level 5 sides mean they are always going to come back at you, and the momentum is always going to swing.

Northwich vs Blackburn
Last season was classed a disaster for Northwich over our two meetings the Blacks only recording a total of 12 points – one try in each encounter, compared to Burns 166 points collectively.

Blackburn currently sit top of Regional 1 North West losing only one against Macclesfield from seven fixtures played. Northwich placed 9th.

Last week Blackburn started the match brilliantly and dominated the opening 15 minutes. Their intensity from the kick-off set the tone and they won the early kick battle to gain territory and test the Manchester defence. It didn’t take long for the first try to arrive – two minutes to be exact – as they plunged over at the back of an unstoppable driving lineout. Eight minutes later they stepped up to add another and make it 14-0. Scoring four tries in each half Burn won 52-17.

After an extremely tough opening seven rounds of the season, this will be another test of Northwich’s character.

Hospitality Lunch: Sponsored by IG Sports Grounds Maintenance. Our Bar will serve the pre-match hospitality lunch for those wanting to enjoy a 3 course meal before the game. Meet at 1pm ahead of 3pm kick-off, cost is £10pp.

Northwich 2nd vs Hope Valley
Northwich have an away day to Peak District team Hope Valley hoping to keep their winning run going.
Hope Sports Club 64 Castleton Road, Hope, Derbyshire, S33 6RD, this is our first visit to Hope who are currently 7th in the division their last fixture being a loss to LSH 2nd, two weeks ago.
Harry Naylor - “There’s still loads to work on but it’s getting better and better every week. There are a lot of positives and if we can kick on we’ll be in a good place.”

Northwich 3rd vs Helsby
Since it's formation in 1962 by workers at the village's BICC factory, Helsby Rugby Club (Seniors) has established a firm reputation as one of the most sociable clubs in the region.
Northwich host 5th placed high scoring Helsby visiting off the back of their 54-12 victory over New Brighton. Their second successive win following their defeat of Oswestry 69-7.

Injury, players going up & unavailability last week caused Northwich to sadly concede their fixture. Northwich drop to 3rd position.
