Norwich United welcome Whitton Town to Plantation Park on Saturday in the Thurlow Nunn Premier

First of all, our Vice-Chairman and match day announcer Peter Bowyer will not be at Saturday’s game due to some recent health issues. All at Norwich United wish Peter all the best with his recovery and hope to see him at Plantation Park again soon.

Norwich United played their first game in three weeks last Friday, following precautionary postponements of the 2 festive games by the league, which Norwich United opposed. However despite the enforced break, The Planters started the new year with a satisfying 2-1 win away at Thetford Town. Liam Jackson scored his 21st goal of the season in his 29th appearance (in all competitions), before setting up Ryan Forbes to score his first goal for Norwich United, to win the match.

Whitton United started the season fairly inconsistently and were struggling in the bottom half of the table when Norwich United beat them 4-0 at Whitton’s King George V Ground in September, however Whitton United are now up to 14th in the table and their recent form has been rather impressive.

Whitton have beaten both Mulbarton Wanderers (4th) and Woodbridge Town (9th) in recent weeks as well as drawing with Mildenhall Town (2nd) so it seems likely they will offer a stern test for The Planters in Norwich United’s first home match since 19th November 2021.

Following Saturday’s fixture Norwich United travel to Hadleigh United on Saturday 22nd, then a short trip to local rivals Wroxham to follow, for the rearranged Christmas fixture on Friday 28th January.
