CHONG CHOOSES BORO

Nuneaton Borough are pleased to announce the signing of Kobe Jae Chong after his recent release from Telford United.

The 21-year-old British-Malaysian put pen to paper on a one year deal at the New Bucks head after impressing during a preseason friendly against Shrewsbury Town.

The Birmingham born attacking midfielder began playing Futsal at around five years of age learning lots of skills through Brazilian Soccer Schools. Kobe was then scouted to join West Brom at the age of ten where he stayed for two years. Whilst part of West Brom’s academy, the creative player also had a trial at Sporting Lisbon. However he didn’t manage to secure a move before being released by the Baggies when he returned home.

After departing the Baggies, Chong joined Kidderminster Harriers where he played in the Junior Premier League. After a season with Kidderminster, interest came from Cagliari Calcio’s academy where Kobe would stay for three years featuring against the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus.

Before joining Telford, the technically gifted player was on the books with then Championship outfit Peterborough United where he had a loan spell at Peterborough Sports.

Other sides Kobe has played for include Solihull Moors U19’s, Banbury, Redditch and Sutton Coldfield.
