It was very much a party atmosphere for the Boro ladies as they took another huge step forward to clinching the league title. The afternoon was of huge significant as the Boro Ladies to took Liberty Way field for the first time this season, in front of the biggest crowd of the season. As around 150 spectators witnessed Boro put in a five-start performance.
The first half an hour seen quite nervy start for the hosts, as it appeared that the occasion was somewhat playing on the girls mind. However, on 34 minutes in form Striker Emily “Witty” Whittaker fired in Boro’s first to ease things down.
Second half seen much more dominance from the Boro as they looked to take the game to Thurmaston. On 55 minutes Boro’s dominance was rewarded, following a scrabble in the opposition box, striker Lisa Stringer managed to keep cool to fire away Boro’s second.
Seven minutes later Emily Whittaker pilled on more pressure, as the striker managed to the lob the visitors keeper to make 3-0! Grabbing the attackers second of the game.
Boro’s defence remained strong through, as on 65 minutes Boro’s composer as a Thurmaston attacker found herself on one on one with the Boro keeper. However, the in-form keeper of Jamie Edwards managed to use her feet to prevent the ball from causing further problems. Boro’s defence were then soon quickly around to protect their keeper. Keeping Boro’s clean sheet intact.
73 minutes seen experienced attacker Kirstie Deacon join in on the goals, following power shot from right from the edge of the box managed to find it’s way over the Thurmaston keeper to make it 4-0.
Attacker Emily Whittaker managed to finish the perfect afternoon with a hat trick as the striker kept her composure in a one on one to slow away Boro’s fifth of the game. Taking her goal tally to 28 goals for the season. Gaining her fifth hat trick in a row! Notable the first hat trick to be scored at Liberty Way this season!
The afternoon was great day for the football club, as the ladies section gave a top display in an very entertaining match for the spectators. Very Inspiring for the youngsters present and a great advert for ladies football.
Next up for the Boro ladies is the highly anticipated clash between the top two as the Boro ladies host Beaumont Park Wildcats on Sunday 30th April kick off 2pm at the Windmill Sports Club. Is what a critical clash not to be missed that could decide the league title.
