The Boro crashed out of the FA Cup after losing 4-0 away against Stratford Town. Goals from Grocutt, Sammonds and Obeng sealed Nuneaton’s exit in the second qualifying round stage of the Tournament.
The visitors enjoyed an exciting start to the game in the first ten minutes so it came as some surprise when with only 12 minutes on the clock Stratford Town striker Will Grocutt fired home a volley past Tony Breeden to put them 1-0 up.
The Boro continued to create chances causing Bards keeper Liam O’Brien to make a few great saves. However the away side were dealt a blow once again when the hosts made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute after midfielder Ashley Sammonds released a thunderbolt from 25 yards out, giving Breeden with no chance.
HT: 2-0
The Boro started lively in the second half with a free kick from debutant Chris Clement went just over the bar. Despite this, any chance of a Nuneaton comeback was scarped when a fantastic solo effort from striker Ahmed Obeng put the home side all but definitely in the hat for the next round draw.
After this The Boro looked deflated and nearly conceded a fourth when substitute Will Dawes effort only just went over the bar. Three became four in the 84th minute as Will Grocutt got his second of the game after an initial good save from Breeden was tapped home by the Stratford captain.
