SQUAD NEWS: Beddows and Lock Added to Boro' Squad

Adam Etheridge3 Jun 2019 - 09:32

Nuneaton Borough have added two more local players to their new look squad.

Ash Beddows and Alex Lock both arrive having played together with Coventry Copsewood and Bedworth United Under 21’s. “I’ve been watching these two lads for around 12 months and I was just about to sign them both when I left Barwell” said Manager Jimmy Ginnelly.

“The situation at Nuneaton, with the embargo and squad restrictions, meant that I had to forget about bringing them in at the time. Ash is a very talented lad, he can play left back, sweeper or in the middle of the park. Alex could be a real little gem, every time I see him play, I can’t get over what a talented lad he is. He can play up front or on either wing, he’ll excite fans that’s for sure and he’s got a great eye for goal.”

“I’ve signed for the Boro’ because it’s a great club and it’s always been a dream to play for my hometown side” said Beddows. The 21 year old defender won the Midland Junior Premier League with the Boro’ Academy and is looking forward to the challenge of stepping up to the first team “I want to prove myself and be a regular in the starting eleven and to improve myself week in week out.”

Beddows also helped Coventry Copsewood to victory in the Birmingham County Midweek Floodlit Cup and wants to continue winning trophies ”I hope to have a successful season, proudly representing the Boro’.”

20 year old Lock, who spent a year in Coventry City's youth set-up, also hails from Nuneaton. “I used to watch the Boro’ when I was younger and always dreamed of representing them. This is a great Club and capable of achieving so much more, I hope to be a part of that.

“I’m looking to impress the Gaffer and become a regular in the first team. I know it’s going to require a lot of hard work, but that’s part of what I’m about. I hope to continually improve as a player and help the Club to a successful season.”

Welcome back to the Boro’ Alex and Ash.
