Nuneaton Borough have confirmed the signing of fullback Chris Camwell. The Bedworth native has joined the Boro' following his release from Coventry City.
"Getting Cammy at the last minute is great for us" said Manager Jimmy Ginnelly "he’s a hungry young lad and if we can get him playing regular, and flying down that left hand side we could help him back into the Football League, and I believe he’s got the ability to do that. He’ll be putting some serious pressure on Rhys Sharpe down the left and that’s just what I need, I want all my players looking over their shoulder and having to stay right on top of their game."
Camwell came through the Sky Blue's youth set up after being identified at the age of six. After 12 years at the Ricoh, Camwell is looking forward to a new phase in his career.
"It’s a great club, especially for young hungry players that just want to go out there and just play football" said Camwell when asked about joining the Boro'. "I wanted to work with jimmy Because he’s come in and turned everything upside down from all the problems last season.
"I’m looking to play as many games as possible so I can show people what I am capable of and help get the Club back up the leagues. I’m really close with Devon Kelly-Evans from our years at Coventry together and I also know Ryan Harkin and Lewis Rankin but the whole squad have welcomed me in and helped me settle."
As well as appearing for Coventry, Camwell helped Solihull Moors into the FA Cup first round during a loan spell in the 2017/18 season.
Welcome to the Boro' Chris.
