Nuneaton Borough have announced the signing of veteran forward Stuart Beavon following his release by Coventry City.

Having played over 300 matches in the football league, Stuart Beavon arrives at Liberty Way adding a wealth of experience to Jimmy Ginnelly’s new look squad.

“I’ve been looking to add another top-notch centre forward” said Ginelly, “I want a squad capable of competing towards the top of the table, Stuart gets us much closer to that.

“He’s just what I’ve been looking for to strengthen my team, his experience will be invaluable in the changing room and out there on the pitch. He works tirelessly for his team and I’m sure he’ll pop up with quite a few goals as he has done throughout his career.”

“After speaking to Jimmy I knew this was the right move for me” added Beavon “I know about all of the problems from last season and about all of the work that’s been done to get the Club back on the right track. I want to be part of that, it’s a big club and, along with the squad that’s already here, I think I can help get the Boro’ back up.”

The Reading born forward came up through non-league football with Ardley United, AFC Wallingford, Didcot Town and Weymouth. Beavon scored 24 league goals for the Terras in just 86 appearances, earning him a move to Wycombe Wanderers.

In five seasons at Adams Park Beavon made 125 appearances, finding the back of the net 34 times. Further Football League spells followed with Preston North End and Burton Albion before a move to the Ricoh Arena in January 2017.

Beavon scored on his debut for the Sky Blues and it was his semi-final goal that sent Coventry to Wembley for the 2017 Football League Trophy final. With first team opportunities limited at the Ricoh, Beavon spent the entirety of last season on loan to Wrexham, making 39 appearances in the National League as the Red Dragons finished fourth, losing in the playoff quarterfinals.

The 35 year old has already been on the scoresheet at Liberty Way, scoring the opener in Coventry City’s 2-1 preseason victory over the Boro’ in 2017.

Welcome to the Boro’ Stuart.
