Borough showed their winning mentality on Tuesday evening by coming from 2-0 down to beat Rushall Olympic 3-2 in the Southern League Cup.
Ben Lund slotted post Wright in the opening 10 minutes before Nuneaton-born Josh Willis headed home in a hectic penalty area to put the league leaders in a comfortable position.
However, Olympic failed to cause Boro any further problems after their early dominance.
Five minutes later, Ryan Edmunds’s low strike beat Jonathan Flatt after Isaiah Osbourne’s sweet pass played the winger through. Just before the break, Mitch Candlin converted from the penalty spot after his sizzling run resulted in referee Richard Walker pointing to the spot.
The winner came with 15 minutes remaining when James Clifton, who was utilised as a centre-back in a defensive three, beat Flatt with a left foot strike to complete the turnaround.
Candlin nearly struck another on his return from injury, but Flatt was able to deny the Walsall-loanee.
Following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at St. Ives Town, Jimmy’s decision to bring in Nigel Julien, James Clifton, Jack Byrne, Aman Verma and Mitch Candlin paid dividends, especially with the 3-5-2 formation.
The win means Boro have won 6 games in a row at Liberty Way and have now not lost at home since Kings Langley picked up a 3-0 win.
Next up for the in-form side is Redditch United on non-league day at Liberty Way as Boro try to continue their push up the league.
