On Saturday afternoon we welcome Chorley to the LDJ Solicitors Stadium. It will be the Magpies third visit, with both previous encounters ending in score draws. Last season Ashley Chambers scored a second half equaliser to cancel out Dale Whitham's first half goal. There have been just five meetings in recent times, with each team winning once and seeing the spoils shared on three occasions.

The most recent meeting was a 2-2 draw in November at Victory Park, on that day Jordan Nicholson fired the Boro' in to an early lead which Chambers doubled at the start of the second period. Chorley launched a furious fightback, assisted by a controversial goal from Josh O'Keefe. Nuneaton's players were convinced that the ball never crossed the line but the goal stood and Matty Hughes snatched the equaliser with seven minutes to play.

At the time Chorley were pushing for the playoffs, having reached as high as sixth in the table, but they currently find themselves in ninth place, four points behind Spennymoor after a spell in which they won just once in nine games. Despite that blip, the Magpies still feature the joint best defensive record in the league, conceding just 27 goals through 30 games this season.

Away from home Chorley have been middle of the pack, earning 19 points from 15 games, scoring 14 and conceding 16. Nuneaton are in the midst of, by far, their best run of the season. They haven't conceded since the 9th of January, a streak that now runs to over eight hours of football. Winners of five of their previous six games, Dino Maamria's side are one of the hottest teams in the Vanarama National League North.

Chorley's top scorer this season has been Nicholas Haughton, but he has returned to Fleetwood Town after his loan spell ended. Manager Matt Jansen has recently brought in former Carlisle striker Steven Rigg, and he could make his first start for the club after coming off the bench last week in their 1-0 win at home to Gainsborough Trinity. Jansen told the club website that “any game is difficult in this league and we'll approach the match just like we do against any opponent. We know what Nuneaton are about and it's down to us to combat that.”

So, when we see the Magpies on Saturday, will it one for sorrow or two for joy? Come and join us at the LDJ Solictors Stadium and find out.
