Wednesday evening (19:45 kick-off)...

On Wednesday evening we entertain Boston United at North Street, the home of Alfreton Town, in a match that was originally scheduled to be played on Easter Monday. Gary Charles will be keen to get back to winning ways. Charles' first league game in charge was also at the Impact Arena, as his side took a point in a 1-1 draw with the Reds last month.

Craig Elliott took over as Manager of The Pilgrims in November last year, and, following a defeat away to Harrogate Town, took them on a nine game unbeaten streak in the league, which included seven victories. There followed a dip in form shortly afterwards as they went five games without a win, including a stunning capitulation at home to FC United of Manchester that saw them draw 4-4, despite being 3-0 up at half time and 4-2 ahead with three minutes to play.

However, Boston are back in form and their two previous matches have seen victories against the top two in the league, most recently winning 2-1 away to Champions Salford City, that result came on the back of a 3-0 win at home to Harrogate Town. Away from home they have won three and drawn one of their previous five, with their only loss coming away to Brackley Town.

The Boro' haven't won at home against the Pilgrims since a 2-0 victory in 2011, but there have only been two matches at Liberty Way in that time, a 3-1 win for the visitors in a season that saw them pip us to a play-off place and a 2-2 draw early last season. The visitors had a two goal advantage at the hour mark but Kelvin Langmead pulled one back before Jordan Nicholson struck an injury time equaliser.

In the meeting at York Street earlier this year Boston returned the favour. Mitchell Glover looked like he had snatched all three points with his 89th minute strike, just moments after coming off the bench, but Brad McGowan scored from a corner in the 92nd minute to deny the Boro'. Ashley Hemmings is top-scorer for Boston, with 15 league goals so far this season, though most of the recent goals have come from Reece Thompson, who has nine, and Jordan Keane who has chipped in with the seven.

Former Nuneaton loanee Kabongo Tshimanga, who recently returned from injury with a hat-trick for the Pilgrims' Under 21 side, has eight league goals to his name so far this season and is joined by Tyrell Waite amongst Boston's attacking options. Waite also had loan spells with Nuneaton, last appearing four years ago when he played for Notts County. In all, he played seven games for the Boro' without scoring.

Away from home Boston are15th in the league with 21 points from 20 games, scoring 26 conceding 35. Our home record also places us 15th with 29 points from 19 games, scoring 25 and conceding 20. Our home form in 2018 however has been very good, seeing us go six games unbeaten before the 2-0 loss to Salford City last week.

Since the year 2000, of the 15 meetings between the two sides, there have been seven draws and four wins apiece. Boston are currently three points above the Boro' and have a better goal difference, will that still be the case come Wednesday evening?
