Saturday 21st December, 2019;

Nuneaton Borough made it two wins in two with a comfortable 4-0 victory over St.Ives Town at Liberty Way.

Ryan Edmunds put Boro ahead in the first-half before Luke Benbow’s penalty, in between David Bremang’s brace, meant the hosts play-off fight continues.

The encounter struggled to come to life in the opening stages. The first chance came to Callum Powell, with the Boro man firing straight at Finley Iron. Moments later, Edmunds’s looping header nearly caught Iron out, but the former Cambridge United stopper tipped the effort wide.

Nuneaton took the lead 17 minutes in when Edmunds left-footed strike concluded a wonderful team goal for the hosts. The move began with the goalkeeper, Tony Breeden, before fast link-up play from Benbow and Jack Byrne generated space for Edmunds to arrow the ball into the bottom corner.

Both Powell and Bremang came close to doubling the lead as the first 45 minutes came to an end, but St Ives went into the break lucky to be only a goal down.

Jimmy’s men doubled their lead early in the second-half when Bremang headed in from Rhys Sharpe’s corner. The goal is now two in two for the Coventry City loanee, who is proving to be a good addition to the squad.

The visitors should have grabbed a goal back when Breeden’s loose clearance fell to Matt Foy. However, the substitute could not capitalise on the mistake.

It was 3-0 when Benbow converted from the spot after Bremang was brought down. The goal was his first since the 2-1 defeat to Stourbridge in the FA Trophy.

Bremang grabbed his second goal of the game with a low strike past Iron after Isaiah Osbourne’s clearance played the in-form forward through on goal.

Next up for Boro is the short trip to local rivals Tamworth on Boxing Day (kick-off 12:00).
