The club was founded in 1937, matches were played on The Ropewalk at the bottom end of Station Road in Ilkeston. The club then played at Bridge Street in Cotmanhay, Ilkeston during the 1950’s and at the Shipley Boat in the 1960’s.
In the early 1970’s the club moved to Pavilion Road on the Cotmanhay Farm Estate on the edge of Ilkeston. In 1985 the club moved to their present ground where they began to lease a pitch at the East Midlands Electricity Board Social Club on High Lane East at West Hallam in Derbyshire. In 2000 the club had the chance to purchase the ground from Powergen as they released all their sports grounds. The club now own the site which is just under 10 acres in area.
In the early founding years of the club, approximately 12 games a season were played. The main players involved with the club were four brothers from the “George” family. In the late 40’s George Beckworth joined the club, he continued to play every single game including a match on his wedding day!, he continued to play up until his death in November 1984. He was team captain for a period of 35years.
Prior to the 1990’s all the cricket played by Nutbrook was as friendly matches, in 1991 a Junior Team was formed and in 1994, the club entered Division 4C of the Derbyshire County League. 1995 saw the formation of a second team, followed by a third team in 1996. Success followed quickly and in eleven years of league cricket the First team have won 4 division titles and been runners-up on 3 occasions.
A ladies team was founded in 2002 and it continues to flourish with approximately 20 playng members.
The Junior section comprising from U-18’s down to 6 year olds numbers around 200 strong with approximately 50-60 Under-10’s children regularly attending the weekly Kwik Cricket coaching sessions, which the club continues to operate through the winter at a local leisure centre. Along with winter net sessions for the youth teams.
The club has always been known as a family club and a friendly club, and new members are always welcome to join
