After winning the toss and inserting the oppo, we were confident of restricting them to a gettable total. Usual business was resumed with Adam commencing from the top end and troubling the batsman again with pace and bounce. Mikey from the bottom end blazed in for an initial 9 over spell which saw the 2 crucial breakthrough wickets. One ball would of removed any batsman in the league bamboozzling the poor lad!! We knew that South Park will always play their shots and to our credit did not get disheartened when a few boundaries were leaked and both Mikey and Adam persisted. South Parks number 4 began to slap the ball to all ends and a costly drop from yours truly when he was on minimal runs was punished when he continued to 82. Darren replaced his son at the top end and his variation of length, pace and bounce saw the bat beaten and many tied up… including a guy who didn’t appear to hit it off the square and the first time he did, slapped a pie to Mr Jacobson who made no mistake with the catch. Chris Lyons replace Mikey with his ever steady display and picked up 2 valuable wickets in an effective 9 over spell. We needed to get the big man out so thought Scott was the man…… I was right!!! A big hoik to Dazzle in the deep saw his end. Sadly when their number 8 came in…… it turned out he was a fast scoring batting robot!!!! He began to dispatch perfectly delivered balls to the boundaries with Nutfield having no answer to no fault of our own… we just credited his shots and stuck to it to chase 236.

Darren and Chatters took to the opeing positions with a superb start. Chatters playing a positive game with some powerful cutting from one end supported by some beautiful timed drives though the covers. Dazzle was eventually removed with a fine delivery and even better slip catch which bought Polly to the crease. We were all waiting for that fluent batting style he possesses and Saturday was that day it came back. Some fine shots off the pads began to settle him but the pressure was relieved at the other end with Chatters easing himself to his half century through a combination of attacking boundaries and well waited shots into the gaps. Polly eventually elected to miss the straight one which bought Scott into the Nutfield attack. A quick fire 40 of 13 balls took us into a commanding position. It is worth noting that when Scott joined us he did not have cricket spikes, but the ones he has bought seem to be heavily weighted as “walking” seems something of a difficulty....... the inquest continues….. none the less.. a fine knock. Chatters continued to bully the attack and when reaching his 89th run took the same approach as Polly. An excellent innings which set the way for Parker to come in for the winning runs with overs to spare!!

A fantastic win which leads us to the top of the table!!!! Congratulations to all involved… another superb team effort!!!
