"The executive committee are delighted to propose an amendment this year to the list of Life Members with the addition of Jonny Willis. The reasons for nominating Jonny are many and obvious with nomination probably overdue.
I believe Jonny joined the club in 2010 although this was difficult to confirm. A true testament to the improvements made by Jonny to our record keeping after he joined. He had an immediate impact on the field including a record setting 157 not out. A few seasons later Jonny was elected deputy Chair and worked alongside Chair Kevin Barnes on the Pavillion fundraising and build project before taking over from Kevin as Chair of Nuthurst until the end of 2022 ending 10 consecutive years’ service on the committee.
He has since continued to lead our annual fundraising through his administration of the annual golf day and also continues in leading the project for our new practice net.
Suffice to say Jonny’s contributions have been pivotal in securing the future legacy of the club with not only the pavilion project but also in sharing his business acumen modernising the club’s operations and finances. He also implemented the club’s website enabling the club to engage with community and a wider audience attracting new members and new fixtures.
On and off the field he is a larger-than-life character and thorough gentleman embodying the spirit and comradery the club is known for. Not least he is also one of our finest cricketers scoring 12 centuries and 43 half centuries to date and regularly vying for club honours.
Without doubt Jonny’s contributions both on and off the field render him one of the most influential members the club has ever had more than justifying proposal for life membership."
