Offa were looking to push on from their disappointing draw against Johnstown on Friday night, but were facing a Cefn side who were reeling after their surprising opening day defeat to Coedpoeth United.
Jordan Hollingsworth and Danny Geddes returned to the Offa back line as Adam Griffiths lined up alongside Matthew Bennett in the middle of midfield.
The first half started slowly as both sides tried to get a hold of the game, and it was the away side who managed to do so first. Early chances were hard to come by and both sides, especially as the referee was keen to blow up for any borderline offside calls.
With the exception of a couple of set pieces, neither goalkeeper was troubled until midway through the first half, Jordan Valentine cut in from the right, his deflected pass found it's way to Bennett who was free in the box and he curled his shot past the on rushing keeper.
Offa held tight for the remaining 15 minutes and could have been two goals to the good. Jordan Holligsworth had a good chance to head home from a free kick and a bizarre incident saw the Cefn keeper pick up a back pass resulting in good chance from inside the box. Chris Hewitt rolled the ball to Valentine who forced a good stop from the keeper.

Shortly before half time, Adam Roberts picked up a nasty knock on his knee meaning he could play no further past in the game. Ramone Nelson was bought on at half time to replace him.
Rangers came out for the second half with more purpose and pushed for an equaliser from the off. Their best chance came from a cross from the right wing which the striker luckily headed straight at Offa keeper Taylor.
As the hosts continued to push, Athletic's chances were limited to set pieces and counter attacks; substitute Ramone Nelson struck the post and a cross from the right couldn't get turned in as it flashed past the face of the goal.
Another great chance fell to the young rangers winger who'd found himself bearing down on goal, only to be stopped in his tracks by a perfectly timed Adam Griffiths sliding tackle.
Geddes, Kidd, Hollingsworth and Hewitt put in a huge shift at the back and defended superbly for 90 minutes, as did the other 7 players in yellow. Alun Parry and Sam Price were bought on to try and see the game out and despite a cagey last 10 minutes, Offa held on to take the three points.
