The Old Elthamians U12 team kicked off 2024 with a victory against Bromley RFC in phase two of the Kent Waterfall competition continuing their unbeaten run. Despite being a little rusty with their handling in the early part of the game and conceding a try after 3 minutes the OEs got their act together from the second quarter onwards. Great work by the scrum half Benge and slick passing between the backs of Ruffle, Stanbridge, Dyer and Gooden created an opportunity for Linford to score on 10 minutes levelling up the match, before brilliant work by the forwards to create a try for Dolan shortly before half-time.
After the break the forwards comprising of Quigley, Martin, Dolan, Smith, Kulkarni and Kallar demonstrated their strength and physicality, dominating at the ruck enabling OEs to keep more of the ball before further tries came from swift running by Poulin and Green. Despite conceding another try the game never really seemed in doubt when Linford punched through their lines with a fend and straight run to take the score to 25-10 with a couple of minutes left on the clock. OEs were not done yet however, with only a few seconds remaining the crowd watched in awe as the effervescent Green carry out a Marcus Smith-esque cross-field kick finding Gooden on the far side to seal the victory.
