A disappointing defeat to a powerful Glynonians side who had the better of the game at the ruck and nullified our backs brilliantly.

They led 10-3 at the break after an early score was followed by the two teams exchanging penalties just before half-time.

And the game was effectively out of reach heading into the last quarter as they added another converted try and penalty to their haul, with us unable to get over in between those two scores despite a solid 10 minutes camped on their line.

Despite the enormous frustration we had endured in the first hour, we were spirited in the last quarter and after Glynonians knocked over a third and final penalty Matt Wheeler crossed the line in overtime with a powerful finish.

It was a tough day, but we didn’t give up at any point, and with defeats also for our two closest rivals in the league the damage hasn’t been too severe. We’ll be back stronger for our game against Streatham-Croydon at Dean Road in a fortnight.
