Every once in a while a team comes together who click, who become a complete team. These kinds of teams instinctively know what each other is going to do before they even do it. They are best friends on/off the pitch. The bond that exists between these kinds of players is unbreakable. It seems surreal to be talking about a team like this existing at an Under 8’s level, but exist it does.
We are talking about Oldham Saint Anne’s Under 8’s who are currently enjoying the richest vein of form that their young careers has allowed them. To date, they are undefeated in every fixture they have played so far (11 games to date) and they have amassed an astonishing 79 tries in the process of doing this. What makes this statistic even more incredible is that these tries have been shared out between 10 players throughout the season so far. This team can literally score a try from anywhere on the field, however this is not their greatest strength. Although they love scoring tries they have an appetite for defending that is literally blowing teams off the park. They hunt in pairs and are showing maturity beyond their years when it comes to tackling and the hard work we all know goes with that aspect of our fantastic game. Several opposition coaches have commented on their discipline and how strong they compete in the tackle to win the collision. They are a team in every sense of the word and deserve all the plaudits they are currently receiving.
