OLRFC Colts face Broadstreet Colts 12th April at Broadstreet

The Colts have clinched a coveted spot in the Warwickshire Under 18s Bob Coward Cup Final, where they will face off against Broadstreet Colts on Friday, April 12th.

The Colts team delivered a stunning performance in their recent semi-final match against Earlsdon, securing a convincing win with a scoreline of 67-19. The Colts' dominant display on the field is a testament to their skill, discipline, and strategic gameplay. That followed a close quarter-final match against Silhillians where OLRFC came out on top, 19-17.

Colts Team Manager, Tim Perkins says "We made it, is the consensus within the squad of Old Leamingtonians Colts, in what has been an up and down year, with regards to results.
It has been a hard fought journey to the final, being drawn in the preceding rounds of the cup, against some of the strongest teams in Warwickshire. The squad have battled through with grit and guile in the games, with a 'coach stressing' pattern of going at least two tries behind before recovering to win two of the games with the last play of the game. The squad is eager with anticipation for the game and training hard to maximise their performance in the game. They are ably led by Charlie Bartlett from the fullback position, who like many others playing on Friday, has played through the age groups at Old Leamingtonians for many years and has followed the pathway into senior rugby that the club keenly supports.

The squad are all looking forward to the challenges that face them on the field. With the opposition on the night being Broadstreet colts, who are likely to have partizan support with the game being played at their ground, it will be yet another challenge for our Old Leamingtonian Colts to show their capabilities. This cup final will be an opportunity for the club to support one of its teams in a major final and they hope, help inspire the younger age groups to aspire to the same position. With the exciting brand of rugby that encompasses jeopardy and chaos it should be a great night for player and spectator alike.

Men's Director of Rugby, Scott Craig says "My congratulations to the Colts for getting to the final. Whilst the lads have maybe surprised some in getting to the final, I am not one of those. I have fully engaged with the players integrating in their chat pre and post match. Myself, Adam and Ben have encouraged them into training once a week with the 1XV and where possible have supported at games. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the Colts' dedication and perseverance throughout the season."

OLRFC are encouraging supporters to be at Broadstreet to cheer on the Colts. Kick-off is 7.30pm. Tickets available https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/warwickshire-colts-rugby-football-union
