Despite scoring the best try of the game OL’s were subjected to a torrid afternoon by a side playing fifteen man attacking rugby coupled by a strong defensive display that OL’s could not find a way through and all too often good rucking by the visitors saw the ball lost by OL’s. Luctonians capitalised on the OL’s errors by swift counter attacks that resulted in tries.
The game was only four minutes old when Luctonians scored the first of twelve tries during the game, six in the first half and six in the second half, ten of which were converted.
This was not all one-way traffic though and OL’s competed well throughout the game but the well drilled visitors found little difficulty in defence and the speed and player supported handling by the visitors in counter attacks far too often ended with another try on the board.
OL’s only score of the game was touched down by number 13 Will Shelton after a move that started deep inside the OL’s half when full back Joe O,Loughlen ran 80 metres through the Luctonians defence before drawing the full back and passing to Will Shelton to complete the move and score a consolation try for OL’s. The try was converted.
OL’s next game is away to Droitwich on 12th October. Kikck off 3.0pm.
