In a week where England had to choose their 15 man World Cup squad and disappoint Willey & Denly, the Old Leos C.C. selection committee have had the rare luxury of having selection dilemmas of their own.

Excellent availability and competition for places has led to some tough decisions and sleepless nights for the captains. Well maybe that is going a bit far, but as always in an amateur club, you want to keep as many people as possible happy whilst also thriving for success on the field.

Selection is done, it's Thursday, the sun is out and match day is nearly upon us. Captains Phil and Mark can stop fretting and start sleeping now.

At home to Ilkley 2nds, the 1sts are looking to build on a decent victory away at Horsforth last Saturday. Lying in 4th place, it is key to put a good run of results together and put the pressure on the top sides. We play top of the table Otley next week.

The 2nds are away at Ben Rhydding. A number of players used to being regular 1st teamers are in the 2's knowing that good performances will have them knocking or even banging on the 1st team door again. The 2's lost last week but look to have a nicely balanced side on Saturday. It should be a cracker with Ben Rhydding 8 points below us in the Division 6 table.

This week, we have a 13 year and 14 year old playing for us, plus a 16 year old spinner. All 3 are in on merit. For many Aire/Wharfe sides this is probably the norm.For us we lost our Junior sides for a number of years. To now see talented young cricketers coming through from our revived junior set up is testament to so much hard work and time given up over the last 5 years from a number of hugely dedicated people at the club.

The future is bright.
