Frequently asked questions;
1. Surely a member can play as long as he/she is a member and has agreed to pay and register?
No. Nobody can play until they have registered by completing the online membership form which includes the information required by England Hockey and the disclaimer wording and acknowledgments.
Every player must be aware of their own responsibility for equipment and safety and by registering will acknowledge that.
2. Can a player who has registered play even if they have not paid?
Yes before 30 September. After 30 September any player who has not paid will not be eligible for selection without the prior approval of the membership secretary or club captain.
3. Do players have to be registered with the league or other body before playing?
Yes of course. The team could be disqualified from a cup competition or forfeit a league game if a non registered player is fielded.
4. If we are short or need to win can we play a guest (wild card) from another club or school?
Only in exceptional circumstances if short of players and only if the player is first registered to play for the club and in that competition. Guests may be invited to play in a friendly if the team is short and no club player is available and the match would otherwise have to be postponed or cancelled. Any guest should be invited to join as a social member.
For cup or league matches guests may only be invited if they are former players or relatives of players and register as a social member in advance allowing them to play up to three matches. Fees may be waived with the agreement of the membership secretary. They must also be registered to play in that competition. In no circumstances can a guest be invited to strengthen a team at the expense of a current available member.
