
The visitors were ahead in the first couple of minutes; a free kick goal giving them a dream start.
Pond responded well however; a set piece found Callum McCann at the back post and her curled home a quick-fire equaliser.
A close range effort put Valley back in front and when they made it three on 23 minutes Pond needed to dig in and look to counter.
Oliver Peterkin made a typical break in the left channel but the subsequent Regan Metcalfe close range prod was crowded out by the Valley defence.
Pond were better second half but still found themselves conceding next to a decent hit from the left side of the penalty area.
The Hove Edge side have shown on many occasion that they will fight to the end this season and rallied without getting the ball over the goal-line. Aaron Bennett's goal-bound shot was hooked off the line and Peterkin volleyed over from McCann's excellent cross.
Metcalfe broke but struck narrowly wide of the upright and when Matthew Canavan's header was saved it was clear this wasn't to be Pond's day in front of goal.
Pond have one League match left this season which has yet to be scheduled.
