Welcome to the under 5/6's page. This age group is for boys and girls in pre school and the school year 1 age group starting on 1st September, i.e. children aged under 6 at the 1st of September 2022.

Micro Rugby is where it all starts. If you are a youngster wanting to learn about rugby, you start at micro rugby level. New players are almost always enthusiastic and want to get stuck in right away, but like everything, you have to learn to walk before you run. Therefore, at micro level we spend time having fun but developing basic skills such as ball handling, passing and catching a rugby ball, running with a ball and learning the rules of tag rugby at the same time. The most important thing is that the children have fun, learn how to play the game safely and in the right spirit. Surprisingly we experience relatively few bumps and bruises and the children keep on coming back for more!.

We provide child development led rugby, played according to the Age Grade Rugby principles. This is a mixed boys and girls team for 4 and 5 yr olds.

Training takes place on a Sunday morning from 10am and sometimes the squad are joined by opther clubs to train together. When a child reaches their 6th birthday they join in with the under 7s to learn tag rugby against other teams. We play the game according to the rugby union core values of TREDS Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.
