Ombersley Cricket Club is thrilled to congratulate our very own 1st XI player, 16-year-old Seth Essenhigh, on his recent selection for the England U19 squad! Seth has been called up to represent England in the upcoming Tri Nations Series against Scotland and Ireland, taking place at Loughborough University from 11th to 18th September 2024.

Seth, a talented keeper-batter, has been a standout player for Ombersley CC 1st XI and is a proud member of Worcestershire’s academy intake for both 2022-23 and 2023-24. His exceptional performances in the Birmingham and District Premier League, combined with his commitment to the Worcestershire academy, have clearly paid off, earning him this prestigious opportunity to showcase his skills on the international stage.

Born in Worcester, Seth has consistently impressed at the academy level, playing for Worcestershire in the 2023 ECB Bunbury Festival and the 2024 Super Fours. Last year, at just 15, he made his debut for Worcestershire’s second team against the South Asian Cricket Academy and has since continued to develop, playing three Championship matches and six T20 games for the seconds this summer.

His recent performance for Ombersley in the Birmingham League saw him narrowly miss out on his maiden century for the seconds, falling just two runs short against Middlesex. Now, he will be stepping up to face the best young talent from Scotland and Ireland in the Tri-Nations Series, with an eye on selection for the 2026 ICC Under-19 World Cup in Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Everyone at Ombersley Cricket Club is incredibly proud of Seth’s achievements and wishes him the best of luck in this exciting new chapter of his cricketing journey. We look forward to watching his continued development and success at both the county and international levels.

Good luck, Seth!
