Half time 15-0 to Ossett
Following resuming the second half, Ossett are receiving the kick, and there’s some excellent pod work from the forwards. Sarah takes a high tackle and manages to keep her cool. Izzie taps the penalty and goes, finding space and seeking the try line. Score is successful.
There’s another Ossett knock on to follow though and Clitheroe get a scrum near the try line. Running down the wing it’s looking dicey for Ossett before Ella shows them the touchline with a massive tackle. Ossett couldn’t win the lineout but another massive tackle from Ella sees them not get far.
Following some mixed bits of play, we get pinged for a high tackle which gives the visitors the opportunity to score their first points. Following the restart, in an almost carbon copy of only 10 minutes earlier, Ella puts their winger across the side line. Ossett couldn’t throw the line out straight and the opposition choose to retake it with their throw in. A big forward defence is needed here as Clitheroe attack the try line. They ultimately knock it on in goal and it’s a goal line drop out.
Clitheroe score again after another penalty and it’s 20-10. With a determination to not let their heads drop, Ossett steal the ball and Sarah takes it up the pitch dodging players and handing off left, right and centre to score. Izzie converts successfully.
Clitheroe run through the Ossett defence and it looks to be a sure try, but a forward pass results in us getting the ball back. It goes out to the backs and is kicked but we’re the ones hanging round offside this time. Ossett take the opportunity though when a Clitheroe miss-pass sees Izzie collect the ball and it’s sent to the side lines by the boot. Another in a long line of knock ons from both sides gives Clitheroe the advantage and eventually they get over again and this time convert. There are mere minutes on the clock but after some team chelping, the ref has had enough and the nearest player to him takes the yellow card for the team.
Final whistle goes and it’s a home win. Ossett 27- Clitheroe 17.
