Beverley 7-39 Ossett.

Ossett traveled to Beverley on a bus trip in good spirits fuelled by Pringles and Robbo’s cheesy music quizzes.

We arrived to a very soggy ground where great effort had been made by the home side to get the pitches playable so we could have a run out.

Playing 10 a side due to depleted Beverley numbers, our game plan was out the window and we had to shuffle people into positions they don’t normally play but the resilience that Ossett have been developing over recent months came out in bounds.

Just two minutes after kick off, Olivia showed what she can do with her pace and footwork to get over the line.

Beverley ramped up their defence keeping our next score out for another 18 minutes when Gemma went over with a crash ball for her first ever try.
Moments later and keen to get in on the action, winger Tara with some incredible footwork to dodge round three defenders placed the ball down over the try line.

Next over was flanker Amee, who was playing scrum half. Ossett couldn’t convert these tries and the score is 0-20.

Minutes later Olivia sprinted through the Beverley defence to score her second of the afternoon and it was converted successfully by Amee which brought us to half time.

Immediately after the second half resumed, Amee wanted another piece of the action getting over the try line with a pacey Beverley winger hot on her tail. Amee held off putting the ball down and when Beverley had all but given up on the chase, Amee saw her moment to get the score under the sticks. This allowed her to convert her own try.

Beverley started to look dangerous at this point but an excellent try saver straight into touch by Amee saw them off. They did however score and convert shortly after with a great try from their 9 who spotted a gap and went for it.

Once again with Beverley threatening in the corner Amee forced the same player into touch in a Deja vu moment. Several line out attempts later and Olivia scored her hat-trick and the final whistle went.

Final score 7-39.
