A former Rugby Academy star at Rydal Penrhos made his home debut for an English Premiership side last weekend.

Sean Lonsdale, who left the school in 2015, was part of the Exeter Chiefs side that managed to seal an impressive 43-20 victory over Saracens on Saturday, February 3.

The 20-year-old came on as a fourth minute substitute in what was his first competitive appearance at Sandy Park

Lonsdale, who played a starring role for RGC in their Principality Premiership promotion winning campaign, caught the eye of the Chiefs and subsequently signed a development deal and was loaned to Cornish Pirates to continue his development.

He also returned to Stadiwm Zip World during the summer to put on the Gogs’ shirt yet again in their landmark clash against the Welsh national team.

Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “This is fantastic news for Sean and it is great to see him doing so well at a very high level of rugby.

“To be playing Premeirship rugby at 20 is a tremendous achievement and shows not only the talent he possesses, but the dedication he is showing to getting better every day.
“We have had an incredible amount of success with our Rugby Academy products in recent years, which has seen a large number plying their trade at prestigious clubs across the land, in addition to gaining international honours.

“Hopefully this trend can continue long into the future as Sean’s success serves as an inspiration to our current crop of players looking to emulate his achievements.”
