Oxford Cavaliers, visited Storm on a bright breezy Saturday afternoon, depleted by a few late pull outs a 14 man Cavs squad started the match in explosive style with Simon Price latching onto a good off load to sprint for opening score of the match, this was converted by Stu Hannah. Oxfords Forwards in particular Jordan Andraide and Graham Okeefe causing Leicester all sorts of problems up the middle of the park this led to a good forwards try by Graham Okeefe barging over short range to bring score to 10 0 in Cavs favour. Oxford continued to dominate procession and territory and Wes Newton started to look sharp around the ruck area making the most of slack marking it was a blip in Storm defence that led to Wes try a good Hookers try that was converted by Hannah to make it 16 0 to Oxford. The pace of the game was taking its toll on Leicester as they started to make inter changes to halt Cavaliers momentum, it however was not working as Andraide stretched the lead with a powerhouse try taking two defenders over line with him this was converted again by Hannah making the half time score 22 0.

The second half started the same as the first ended with the Oxfords forward in control making good yards up the field which led to an early 2nd score for Hooker Newton 45 mins gone 26 0 little did we know at this stage that this was to be Oxfords last score of game. As we entered the 60th Minuet Leicester found some space and scored a good opportunist try reducing the deficit 26 6 with a successful conversation. Cavaliers started to tire rapidly and started to lose composure which was quickly seized upon by storm who crossed for anther quick score and conversion making score 26 12 in Oxfords Favour. An Injury to Jackson Lambert Wilkes really put pressure on Cavs as they now had a bare 13 with no interchanges left, Storm made the most of this advantage and rattled in another score with 10 mins remaining 26 16 in Oxfords favour. It is worth mentioning at this stage the excellent defence work of winger Luke Gardner who put tackle after tackle in to keep storm at bay for that final 10 however with a minuet left on clock Leicester scored wide out to make the final score Oxford Cavs 26 Leicester Storm 20. It was a hugely important away win by Cavs who at times showed some fantastic Rugby coupled with some great dogged defence. A win is a win and onwards to Nottingham in two weeks.
