The Brookes Quins Partnership student coaches team and I have been able to continue the great work that was previously set up by my predecessor Joe Winpenny. We are reaching out to schools in Oxford city and beyond and putting together great rugby and sports programmes to not only help grow the game around the city but also educate the younger generation on the fundamentals and benefits of the sport we all love. Rugby helps teach morals and ethics which help young people develop into respectable adults. It improves creative and problem-solving skills as well as developing social skills such as confidence and teamwork which are qualities to which all young people should aspire.

Alongside the weekly community sessions, we deliver to schools, we also provide healthy activity and food (HAF) camps during school holidays, which are aimed at children who qualify for free school meals. Christmas was my first experience of this and although challenging, it was a great success and extremely rewarding being able to provide 8 days of fun sporting activities, arts and crafts, healthy breakfast lunch and dinner and even a visit from Santa to kids from around the city of Oxford! We are already gearing up for the Easter HAF camp this April.
