Victoria’s PS4 NPL clubs have been financially rewarded for their junior teams’ achievements on and off the field with $10,000 from FFV’s major and official retail partner, Sportsmart.
The $10,000, distributed in Sportsmart gift cards, is part of an FFV sponsorship arrangement called the Sportsmart Development Awards, which also reward junior NPL referees and coaches and will exist for the next two years.
FFV wishes to congratulate the NPL clubs and recognised referees and coaches, who will receive the following:
> All 28 NPL clubs in 2014 will each receive 4 x $50 vouchers to award to most improved players as nominated by clubs.
> Four NPL clubs will each receive 1x $250 vouchers for exceptional community engagement work. Those clubs are:
Ballarat Red Devils
- Partnership with McDonalds and Ronald McDonald House Charity
- layer and coach appearances at local kindergartens and schools
- Engagement with Pinarc to interact with people with a disability
Kingston City
- Close relationships with local community clubs, sharing knowledge and resources for junior player development
Brunswick City
- Raised over $10,000 for the Bully Zero Foundation
- Worked with the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre on the Asylum Sneakers Campaign
St Albans Saints
- Conducted numerous training sessions and matches at local schools
- Conducted training sessions and shared technical knowledge with Victoria Police
> 10x $100 vouchers as referee development awards, for referees who officiate junior NPL matches. The referees are: Daniel Isaac, Benji Batten, William Samsa, Brandon Smith, Peter Christou, Damir Kulas, Daniel Tsikrikos, Nicholas Tzoutzidis, Alex Nikolovski and Carlos Matrinez.
> 8 x $250 vouchers to NPL clubs for their coaching, development and performance. Those clubs are: Pascoe Vale, FC Bulleen Lions, Heidelberg United, Box Hill United, North Geelong Warriors, Northcote City, Green Gully and Hume City.
> 4 x $100 vouchers to each new NPL club to assist with set-up for 2015. Those clubs are: Eastern Lions, Nunawading City, Murray United and Moreland City
Meanwhile, FFV has today released the NPL 2015 junior fixtures but will work with NPL clubs to confirm kick-off times by next week.
Highlights of the fixture include regional teams Goulburn Valley Suns and Murray United going head to head in Round 1, while the Heidelberg and South Melbourne senior and junior teams will feature on the same day at Olympic Village on March 29.
There will be several 'double weekends' in 2015, where junior teams play two matches on a weekend.
