Massive Weekend for the PITMEN.

A "MASSIVE" game this weekend as the PITMEN welcome the IRONMEN of Merthyr to Trinity Fields. The visitors are flying high at the top of Division 1 East and are churning out some mighty impressive results week after week making by far the in-form side, and odds on favourites for Saturdays game.

After avoiding relegation to Division 2 East by the skin of thier pants last season the IRONMEN have undergone an amazing transformation in the last 6/7 months to become the team to beat.

With new coaches in JARVIS and HORRIGAN, Christmas has truly come early to the Wern.

A glut of pre-season signings saw Lynch back from Bargoed, Luckwell from Corus, and lots of A.N Others from all over to breath new life into the IRONMEN.

Penallta will need to be on the ball this weekend, Physically and Mentally prepared for what will no doubt be an extremely difficult fixture against the League favourites. At home we are capable of beating anyone just ask RGC 1404, Treorchy, and Ystrad Rhondda, three epic home wins last season that had a massive impact on the final League placings.

A result on saturday could kick start the PITMEN back into League contention and further good fortune in the new year could see the return fixture with Merthyr on the last day of the season turn into a League decider, let that be our goal, let that be our ultimate target, with no Cup distractions this should be our destiny.

Result aside let the game be hard but clean, with lots of entertaining running rugby which both sides are well and trully capable of. Lets give the Merthyr Team, Staff, and supporters a rousing PITMEN welcome, just like the one's we always get up at the Wern.

I have strong links and many friends old and new from the Merthyr Club, and I for one wait in eager anticipation for Saturdays game, let rugby be the winner.

"WE ARE THE PITMEN, WE ARE THE BEST"
