My apologies for raising hopes then dashing them of a game this Sunday, Gwent's tardiness precluded us playing I'm afraid.
Unlike last year, when the fixture card comes out you will note that there are no pre arranged fixtures for the Veterans this year, this does not mean that things have died down on the Veterans front.
I am actively pursuing games against various local teams e.g. Llanishen, Whitchurch, Bridgend, Neath etc. as I know the Veterans often offer the only way 0of you representing your Home Club.
I am also trying to sort out a mini 'tour' in the spring to Straford (not Stafford :-) ) with Pug's help, a Lincolnshire based team - Old Peculiars - may well come and play us and another local vets as part of a mini tour and I am keen for us to test ourselves against Wales O55s again On top of this, I have suggested that the annual Turkey's Christmas game could be our Veterans against the rest of PHC, initial feedback is positive so 'watch this space'. The Welsh O40s Veterans Cup is penciled for May and it would be great to see such a good turn out as we had last season for this season's tournament. Any suggestions for other fixtures would be gratefully received.
This is a MOMENTOUS season for Penarth Hockey Club as this is the year when we finally end our nomadic existence and return to play in Penarth at the new Stanwell pitch, hopefully this side of Christmas. A succesfull Veterans set up coupled with success for the Firsts and Seconds will only underline that Penarth Hockey Club is 'on the up' again, and we all have a part to play in ensuring we go from strength to strength.

P.S. Minor Admin Reminder, £10 'Occasional' Player payment is now due for the coming season to ensure registration with WHU for those of you not playing regularly for either of the Saturday sides.
