Penarth’s 1st XI suffered another close defeat in the race for a mid-table finish on Saturday 5th February. After weathering somewhat of a Swansea storm in the first 15 minutes, Penarth were able to take a 1-0 lead through Powell. A first goal for the fan-favourite in well over four years. Despite some great defensive play, Penarth conceded just before half time and found themselves going in to the break at 1-1. For the second successive home game, a poor start to the second half cost Penarth the match. Within 10 minutes of the restart, Swansea found themselves 3-1 up and kept Penarth largely at bay for the remainder of the match. Penarth travel to Bristol next weekend to take on Firebrands HC with hopes of bringing their losing run to an end.
