Toolstation NCEL Premier Division
Yorkshire Amateur 2-2 Penistone Church FC (a)

Manager Ian Richards reflected on the game:
I’m really pleased with the outcome today, to get a draw against a high profile, excellent Yorkshire Amateur side that will do very well at home and surprise a few teams. To come back from the position we were in from two-nil down, to equalise and then look the stronger team who could have gone on to win it three-two, its great credit to the players.
The words character and resilience are used a lot in football but that second half was real character and resilience by the players.
The first half we just never got going, we didn’t play to our strength, we weren’t effective with our football, we made too many wrong decisions in possession. I thought we defended pretty well to say we were under quite a bit of pressure first half apart from one switch off from which we gave the penalty away, which on another day might not have been a penalty, but we just have to make sure it isn’t a decision for the ref.
We rode our luck a little bit and at half time we came in and re-enforced the way how we should have played and how we should play second half and the players did that and before you know it their back line is twenty to twenty-five yards deeper our mid-field are picking the ball higher up the pitch, our strikers are getting into areas in behind their full backs down the side of their centre-halves where they want the ball and the goal has come from that. Ash Ellis has won the ball thirty yards from goal, it’s been a good pass from Jordan Coduri in to Kieran Ryan because he’s in the area can get on the half turn and it’s a great finish. The second one, because their defensive line wasn’t great we had a long kick from keeper Jared Oxley, who had a great game for us, Sam Scrivens has got in behind and done very well to get the ball from their keepers mishandle and put it in the back of the net, in the first half we didn’t do that enough, they didn’t have an answer for it, they found it very difficult to get out. They always looked a threat on the break with the quality and pace that they had but second half we deserved it and probably another five to ten minutes we might have gone on to win it.
I thought there was some outstanding performances second half, I thought the one player who had an excellent game for the ninety was Ryan Johnson, he was up against Jason St Juste who was in a Conference North squad last year and he didn’t get a kick against him, Danny Howes again did very well playing slightly out of position a left back and Ash Ellis was outstanding second half.
It was great to see the players react to what was said to them at half time and get the result they deserved the point and a point at Yorkshire Amateur will be a good point in the long run of the season.
It will be interesting to see how Handsworth do against them on Tuesday night that will be a real test because Handsworth are title favourites.
I’m pleased with the point for the game in the end but I’m even more pleased after being two-nil down.

Really pleased with the start we've made winning 7-0 against Denaby United, I thought the lads played some great football in patches.
We took ten to fifteen minutes to get going and scored four quick goals through Cole Barrett and Reece high
We came out second half and scored within the first two to three minutes again through Reece high which gave him his hat trick and followed up with goals from Eddy Newsome and Callum Lee
Huge credit to Denaby they never gave up and stayed positive throughout the ninety minutes which is a massive credit to the players and their management team
