Penzance adjusting to life one month in!

It has been a busy month for Penzance as they have been adjusting to The Kitchen Kit South West Peninsula League. With seven games played in August, Penzance have picked up seven points.

The start of August saw Penzance lose a two goal lead as they drew 2-2 with Wendron. In what was an exciting game saw two players sent off, one for Penzance and one for Wendron. Jacob Cleverly scored both for Penzance that day.

Penzance then saw St Austell visit Penlee Park and found out what the league is made of as they lost 6-0. This was closely followed by another tough test when they travelled to Saltash, losing 7-1, Penzance played some promising football. Kevin Lawrence finding his first goal of the season that day!

Another midweek game saw Penzance welcome St Blazey to Penlee Park, losing 2-0 was a tough result to take. Penzance then travelled to Godolphin and came out with their first win of the season! Goals from Anton Oliver with his first of the season and Kevin Lawrence saw Penzance come out 2-1 victors.

Following their first win, Penzance travelled to Helston on the Wednesday night. After giving away a soft penalty and being 1-0 down, Penzance went on to hit the woodwork twice! They eventually ended up losing 11-0.

Keen to make amends, Penzance hosted St Dennis on Saturday 31st. Brushing themselves off from the Wednesday, Penzance found themselves 1-0 up five minutes before the break with a Mark Vercesi free-kick. Just before the half-time whistle, Gary Bell took a pop from 30-yards and saw his effort go in to send Penzance 2-0 up at half-time. St Dennis pulled one back early in the second half but that didn't stop Mark Vercesi scoring his second to put Penzance 3-1 up. Mawgan Kewn got his first league goal of the season to see Penzance go 4-1 up and Jacob Cleverly scored to make it 5-1. St Dennis found a consolation goal an the final score for 5-2 Penzance. A great effort from all the players to pick themselves up after Wednesday.
